Software for wrap, tint and PPF shops: what to look for
What a vinyl wrap, window tint or paint protection film shop actually needs from software: bookings weeks out, film on order, curing bays, proofs and deposits, and a customer who can see the car before they commit.
Wrap, tint and PPF shops are booked further out than almost any other part of the car business, and every job depends on material ordered for that specific car. Generic auto repair software is built around diagnosing and repairing, so it often fits these shops badly. Here is what to check before you choose.
1. Can it see weeks ahead?
A calendar tells you the date. It does not tell you whether the job is ready to start. Look for a board where booked work, film on order and design proof sit as columns ahead of install, so the next three weeks are visible at a glance.
2. Does it know the film has not arrived?
The job on Monday whose film is still in transit is the one that ruins the week. Waiting on film should be its own lane, so a job that is booked but not supplied looks different from one that is ready.
3. Does curing count as occupied?
A car curing after a coating or PPF install has nobody working on it and still takes the bay. If the software treats it as idle, someone books the bay twice. Curing should be a real stage.
4. Where do proofs and deposits live?
If the answer is "in a text thread", it is not tracked. Design, proof, deposit and booking should be stages, so where a job stands tells you what has been paid and signed off.
5. Can the customer see it before they commit?
For wraps, the hardest part of the sale is the customer imagining a colour on their own car. A visualizer that shows their car in the film, as a proof they approve by phone, shortens that conversation.
6. Can customers sign and book on their phone?
Film and coating authorizations, waivers and bookings should be things the customer does from a link, not paperwork at the counter.
How Carvikon does it
Carvikon has a board preset for wrap, tint and detail shops: booking, film on order and design proof ahead of install, waiting on film as its own lane, and coating and curing as a stage. Design, proof, deposit and booking are positions on the board. Customers approve estimates, sign film and coating authorizations, and book open times from a link on their phone.
On Elite, the Wrap Visualizer shows the customer's own car in any of 38 wrap film colors, two-tones, stripes or stealth PPF, and the picture goes to them as a design proof to approve or onto an estimate option.
Plans start at $49 a month for one shop.
Questions shops ask
Wrap, tint and PPF shops need software that shows bookings weeks ahead, tracks film on order, treats curing as an occupied bay, and keeps proofs, deposits and authorizations with the job. Carvikon has a board preset built for exactly that.
Yes, with Carvikon's Wrap Visualizer on Elite. It puts the film, a two-tone, stripes or stealth PPF on the customer's own car, and the picture goes to them as a proof to approve.
Make waiting on film its own lane on the board, inside the booked work. A job that is scheduled but not supplied then looks different from one that is ready, and you find out this week instead of on install day.
Yes. Carvikon comes with film and coating authorizations ready to send by text or email, and the customer signs on their phone; the signed copy files on the job.
